I feel sorry for poor Tom (v.1 and v.2). It's rough being beloved by very small humans!
Also, I am sort of wracking my brain to think if I got up to these sorts of shenanigans when I was a kid. I mean, it seems likely, but I don't remember anything like this. I was more inclined to bemoan there not being enough booooooooooooks and give pointed looks to my dad about that (to which he would usually point me to the shelves in his bedroom. This sometimes led to disaster, however, like the time I read half of Stephen King's It in the third grade and had nightmares for a year).
